The National Audit Office have announced that HMRC’s call waiting time has tripled over the last eighteen months with the average call times peaking at around 47 minutes around the end of October 2015 when there was a deadline for the filing of 2015 self-assessment tax returns by paper.
Calls actually handled by HMRC have also fallen to 71% of total calls received which is well short HMRC’s target of 80%.
